We carry our lives in our possessions and the things we leave behind carry their own lives. We’ve created a world of self sustaining things, a world in which we forget our own humanity for the comfort of castles built from Target hauls and Costco runs.
These portraits of found, abandoned grocery carts ask their own questions and tell their own stories. I have not placed them. They were placed by people—people who needed to carry belongings to wherever their path took them. What would you do with your things if you lost your home?
Love flourishes in even the most desiccated of seasons.

Kait is a visual artist with integrative practices across music and writing disciplines. Through installation that leans on hand drawn animation, experimental photography, poetry, encaustic and music composition, O'Brien seeks to explore the way in which our subconscious touches the landscapes we inhabit. As an active and vivid dreamer, she illustrates dreamscapes through installation practices. Her work draws upon the chance composition elements and is rooted in the social impacts of ecological destruction.
