We are in weird weird times. These times are not new, the framework is not new, the structures have looked us in the face and pulled us apart for our identities and selves and souls. Beat Them At Their Own Game is a testament, a temple, an altar to who we have been in order to keep ourselves safe. Weapons, talismans, tokens, thoughts, prayers, offerings all venerated amongst the artists and memorialized as such, each artist has created an object that represents something that keeps ourselves safe. Beat Them At Their Own Game is a love letter to gender transgression, social transgression, every facet of living that exists outside of cis and white and male normativity and the feelings of protection needed to live outside of that hegemony. Come to the shrine and be held.
