Opening Reception: April 14, 6pm-9pm Closing Reception: May 7, 1pm-4pm Impasse is a situation in which no progress is possible, especially because of disagreement. The sliced sculptures are representational of how individuals naturally examine parts of a situation to seek a compromise. While the painting and scrimshaw pieces are representational of an individuals growth once they have made peace with the unresolvable situation. The multimedia pieces were created with resin, bone and metal because these materials are natural resistant to malleability. Impasse asks the viewers to consider how much of themselves do they give to a situation they can not control. Adri De La Cruz is a scrimshaw and sculpture artist from Albuquerque, New Mexico. They have have exhibited work at the Harwood Art Center, National Hispanic Cultural Center, GRAFT Gallery, and more. They co-run La Chancla DIY. |
