"This collection of painted and textile works was created in an attempt to be seen. I knew others could see me but I desperately wanted to see myself. The complexity of who I am was more than words could describe. Through creating wearable art that expressed who I was, and painting to process feelings, thoughts, and ideas, I was finally able to see with my eyes what I had been seeing with my soul. Hanging my own work among the works of other artists in my home shifted my entire perception of my identity as an artist. I had context. I felt belonging. I finally saw myself in the physical realm."
